Nature awakens at the Le Paradis campsite

The springtime is synonymous with renewal in the natural world. The same goes for the natural landscaping, accommodation and reception areas of the Le Paradis campsite.

Maintaining our gardens

While a portion of the local vegetation goes into its winter period to naturally spring back to tender buds when the springtime arrives, the gardeners of the Le Paradis campsite have their hands full in planting the flower-lined lands of most of our landscaped areas.

Trimming and pruning the hardy plants, labouring the soil and enriching the future plantations (using our exceptional home-made compost), bedding out the annuals, caring for the lawns, planting the aromatic garden… There’s no shortage of work to do! The team gathered as early as April to determine the varieties of colourful species to combine together or in complementarity from one species to another.  Thus, for example, the tropical plants poolside spread their broad leaves at the end of the month of June to accompany the season’s first splashes. The boxwood hedges (that we are keeping a close eye on!) and hornbeams stand proudly to provide each pitch with privacy. Along the riverside, the leaves of the neatly trimmed trees dance in the breeze, offering welcome shade to the canoe and kayak docking pontoon.

New for the 2017 season at the Le Paradis campsite

Each year brings its set of changes, improvements and new features to the Le Paradis campsite. For the 2017 season, we have brought special attention to the restaurant terrace. Shady sails in various colours have been installed in a more convenient arrangement for your relaxing moments on the terrace without parasols to clutter the ground. The sails provide shade and protection against the elements as they foster the circulation of a light breeze that brings the terrace a delightful freshness. All you need is ice cream or perhaps a cocktail and you’re in… Le Paradis !

At the aromatic garden, we opted for a sustainable alternative: the raised wooden planters have been replaced by metal containers crafted by a local artisans. You’ll also notice a magnificent hand-crafted metal structure resembling a pumpkin. This installation will be the centrepiece of a gardening workshop for children and anyone wishing to “dig the earth” with us!

50 years of 100% Dordogne holidays

In 2017, the Le Paradis campsite celebrates its 50th anniversary! For the occasion, we have created two series of information panels:

  • A photo novel to discover on the surrounding walls of the terrace. Five decades of life at the campsite, words from our guests, anecdotes, photos (certain of which are vintage indeed!), and memories to share.
  • A biodiversity interpretation path, “Ambiance Paradis”: a stroll through the heart of the natural world of the Le Paradis campsite to better understand the landscaping of the green spaces and to identify 50 species of the fauna and flora surrounding us.

When you arrive, don’t forget your copy of our special anniversary newspaper!

The season is off to a sunny start at the Le Paradis campsite. The summer promises to be rich in sports, festive activities, and gourmet local delights… We’ll see you in a few days for the presentation of our favourite campsite recipes!
